Flatlands and Taxicabs
Students: Ages 11-15
Monday-Friday 2:00-4:00 (ET)
*Zoom is an option for this class.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in two dimensions…to only be able to move forward, backwards, side-to-side, but never up or down? What if we were all taxicabs and the only way we could get from point A to B is through the streets on a grid? What would a circle look like if we couldn't cut corners? Come explore these alternate realities in this advanced math class where we will read and discuss Flatland, a novella by Edwin Abbott and graph geometry problems in a taxicab world!
