My name is Elizabeth Grey but I go by Ms. Lizz when I tutor. Ever since I was young I considered being a teacher. I was excited for my dreams to come true when I got a Facebook message out of the blue while I was in Europe celebrating my graduation from college. A friend from high school asked if I wanted to move from Minnesota to Colorado and start teaching. Next thing I knew, I was living in a new state at the start of my career. 

 

It has been twelve years since that message and I still love teaching as much as I did the first day I entered the classroom. After moving back to Minnesota briefly to get my Master of Arts Degree in Teaching and teaching in several public and private schools, I realized I missed the original charter school that started it all, Thomas MacLaren Charter School, and I missed Colorado so I moved back. I have been working at MacLaren for 9 years and thought I would never leave.

 

But then something wonderful happened…my husband Kyle and I had a little baby girl named Kida Hope in 2023! Being able to spend time with her and teach her myself replaced my desire to work in a traditional school setting. However, I can never give up teaching completely, which is why I have decided to formalize my tutoring business. This allows me to spend time with my daughter during the day and still live my dream of educating children of all ages and adults as well in the afternoons and evenings.
